About This Site

Thomas MacDonagh — poet, playwright, literary critic, and lecturer at University College Dublin — was one of the seven signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and a Commandant in the Easter Rising of 1916. Born in Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary in 1878, he was court-martialled by the British and executed by firing squad at Kilmainham Gaol on 3 May 1916, aged just thirty-eight.

This site aims to be a growing repository dedicated to his life and work, bringing together his literary writings, biographical resources, and links to archives and other sources across the web. More literature and material is being added over time, so do check back.
